We Are Growing & Expanding Our Services Areas In 2019

BY: Chris Scott / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: Latest News

Here at Brand That Name, we have been working for clients from all over West Yorkshire for the last few years. After providing clients in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Castleford with quality SEO services and fantastic results, we have decided to increase our services areas in 2019.

We will now be covering the rest of Yorkshire and the North East and North West of the UK. Specifically we will be looking to take on new clients in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and Hull.

We are also taking a change of direction in 2019 with the actual services we offer. Previously we provided, SEO, Website Design & Development, Hosting and Social Media Management. In late 2018 we began focusing more on just SEO and becoming experts in this field.

Now 2019 is here, we are only offering SEO Services and nothing else. We want to ‘stand out from the crowd’, while every other agency is offering multiple services, we did not want to be another ‘Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None’ company.

The second quarter of 2019 will also see us launch a new SEO product, ‘Conversions Champion’ and you can read more about that here. This will be a stand alone SEO package, but will also be available for free, for a limited time period for new SEO clients.

Wishing all my readers business success in 2019.

Chris

Does ranking a UK local business site on the first page of Google or the Map 3 Pack, really make an impact on the businesses bottom line?

BY: Chris Scott / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: Uncategorised

The Impact of Ranking on the First Page of Google or the Local 3 Pack on Your UK Business

Do you want to drive laser targeted customers to your UK business? Regardless of the industry you are in, there is a good chance that you are competing against other established names. This can make it difficult to stand out from the competition and attract the eyes of your target customers. By improving your search engine presence, you can get a bigger share of your target market and even beat the popular brands in your industry. Keep reading to learn why you should invest in SEO and how it benefits your companies bottom line.

The Power of Ranking Number One

If you know a thing or two about SEO, then you know that a lot of webmasters strive to reach the number one position for all the keywords they target. Why do you have to put so much time and money in trying to rank as high as you can? The answer is simple: the higher you rank, the more traffic you drive to your website.

Google ranking screenshot

According to several studies, the number one position receives approximately 33% of the total clicks. Just imagine your webpages ranking for several different keywords. This could mean thousands of targeted visitors flooding your website on a daily basis. Meanwhile, the number two spot receives about half the clicks. And the number of clicks go down even further as you move down the search listings.

Just by looking at these figures, you should realise why it pays off to invest in effective SEO strategies until you rank on the first spot for all the keywords relevant to your business. You can get an excellent return on your investment once you drive targeted traffic to your website consistently, giving you more Traffic, More Leads and More Sales.

Google’s Local 3 Pack

To improve your marketing campaign even further, you should incorporate local SEO in your strategy. Since you are a business owner in the UK, you will want to make your business more familiar with the people in your area. This can be achieved by ranking on Google’s local 3 pack.

Try searching for any local business in the UK using Google. You will find that the local 3 pack dominates the top of the search results. This space effectively captures the attention of users, enticing them to click through any of the three listings instead of scrolling down the page.

Google Search Results Page

What’s even better is that the local three pack displays important business information to make it easy and convenient for users to find exactly what they need. This includes your physical address, contact number, and business hours. You can also add photos to make your listing even more attractive. Users can also use Google maps to easily locate your UK business.

If you manage to make it to the local 3 pack, you can expect a significant improvement in local search traffic. Only three businesses can get featured, so it is safe to assume that your competitors are doing their best to outperform your website. Remember that even though you are already ranking on the local 3 pack doesn’t mean you can sit back and relax. You still need to use local SEO tactics in order to hold on to your position.

Why It Matters on Your Bottom Line

A lot of business owners in the UK feel afraid of putting their money in SEO. One of the reasons is that SEO can take quite a bit of time to work. People want to see results instantly, something that SEO cannot provide. But if you want stable long-term rankings, then investing in SEO right now can pay off for years to come.

Please check out our Local SEO Case Study, where we drastically increased a Leeds Asbestos Removal Companies business with a successful online campaign.

If you refuse to do anything today, expect to lag further behind the competition. As they generate more traffic to their website, you end up settling on a handful of customers. You will never grow your business with such an approach. It is high time to start leveraging the power of SEO to boost your search engine presence and attract more targeted customers to your site. You will thank yourself for later for taking the jump and trusting the process.

Brand That Name now have monthly Meetups

BY: Chris Scott / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: Uncategorised

A year ago we setup our own Meetup page to start doing events in Leeds . For people who are not familiar with Meetup, it is a website where people can join groups in their local area. These groups can be for anyone interested in Bitcoin, Entrepreneur Networking, gaming or even sports. Just sign up on their website for free and you can find hundreds of groups to join.

These groups organise regular event for people in the local area to meet up and socialise with others who have similar interests. Meet ups are attended by a variety of people and are a good place to network.

Meetup Logo

Over the next year we will be holding SEO related meetings in Leeds City Centre venue’s and inviting local business owners to join us. We will be giving out free internet marketing information, like how to rank a website on Google or rank a video on Youtube.

Last year we had only one meeting which was poorly attended, despite quite a few of our Meetup members saying that they were going attend. This made us realise, to get the most out of our Meetups we need to substantially grow our group membership. We have decided that one way to do this would be to start an online marketing campaign to bring awareness to our group. We decided that we needed to be paying for Facebook adverts and other online advertising, so we approached some of  our clients who run local businesses and asked them if they would be interested in sponsoring our events.

We are delighted to say that quite a few of these local businesses were interested in getting involved and that our online campaigns will be starting shortly.

We would like to thank the following companies for getting involved:

Eton JonesSurekill and Little Loves Pantry. A full list of our sponsors can be seen here:

https://www.meetup.com/Leeds-SEO-Agency/sponsors/

We will be announcing our next meeting shortly and all details can be found here:

Google’s Mobile First Index, What is it, when does it start and what do i need to do on my website?

BY: Chris Scott / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: Local SEO, Search Engines, SEO

What the Mobile First Index Means for You

Google’s Mobile First Index has been in discussion for some time now, but it’s not due for a full roll-out until 2018. The Mobile First index is something that reflects a philosophy that Google has had for some time now – that mobile users should come first, because mobile search traffic now exceeds desktop search in many countries, and mobile users have clearer searcher intent – so both webmasters and Google, would benefit from putting them first.

Google is not taking the stance that desktop is dead. They will not ‘stop indexing’ desktop traffic – but they are going to start looking for mobile content first, and ranking it more highly than desktop content. So, if you want to get high rankings in the search engines (or retain them if you already have them) then it will pay to make sure that your website is mobile friendly before the new year.

There is not a definite rollout date for Mobile First, at this time. Speaking at SMX West, Google engineers said that the original target date had been the end of 2017, but that now they were looking at a 2018 rollout date. They have said that there is ‘plenty of time’ to make the changes, and that webmasters will not be penalised overnight.

However, since the information is already available to help you figure out what to do with your site, it makes sense to start working on making it mobile friendly already. If you have a mobile-friendly site; a responsive site that has a layout that will work in any resolution, or a ‘reactive’ site that displays different themes for mobile and desktop users (but where the content is the same), then you don’t need to do anything to keep your rankings. If, however, your site is desktop only, or you serve up different content (not just a slightly different version of your CSS!) to different devices, then you will need to make some changes, including adding structured data to both sites, and verifying that the content is error free.

If your site is slow to load and not mobile friendly, then you may already have suffered ranking penalties as a part of ‘mobilegeddon’, and you might need to make some changes to recover from that. The good news is that if your site was designed using WordPress or another popular content management platform then you can change the theme that you use with relative ease. There are many free themes out there which can even be used for commercial purposes and that you can customise to suit your needs. There are premium themes, too, that could serve you well if you have a little money to spare and want to ensure that what you are using is unique, or at the very least used by far fewer people than the free themes are.

If your site is not powered by WordPress, Magento or any of the other popular content management systems, then you will need to take some time to get it fixed up – or get the developer that did it for you to improve the layout. Here at SEO Leeds, we can help you to resolve this. While your site is not going to vanish from the search engines overnight if you do not make it mobile friendly, it is problematic to have a desktop only site now, and you would be future proofing your website if you were to set up a mobile-friendly version of it, because the initial rollout of the Mobile First index will not be the only version of it. Improve your site today to reap the rewards.

How to appear in Google’s knowledge graph

BY: Chris Scott / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: SEO

Do you want to make your website more noticeable every time it appears on the organic search listings? Surely, this is something that all business owners would want for their website. You probably know that it isn’t enough to rank on the first page to capture the attention of your target audience. The good news is that Google now displays the Knowledge Graph, which shows important information at a glance. But why does the Knowledge Graph show up for certain queries but not for others? Here are some tips on how you can show up on Google’s Knowledge Graph.

Try searching for a popular celebrity on Google. Other than the traditional search results, you will find toward the left side of your screen that the knowledge graph tells you all the basic information you’d want to know about that celebrity. This includes a short description of the person, birth date, nationality, and other relevant information such as popular movies or songs.

Now, imagine if your brand appears on the first page of Google just like the celebrity you searched for. This means that your target customers will see relevant information without even having to click through your website. This is precisely the reason why Google has implemented the knowledge graph. It is their way of providing users with immediate answers to their search queries.

You should know, however, that there is no magic button you can push to suddenly show up on the knowledge graph. You need to perform some steps just like you do in any SEO campaign. What’s great is that if you are trying to optimize the website of your local business, there is a good chance that you have done some of these steps already.

Have you already used local SEO like we do at Brand That Name? If so, then you probably already have a Google+ local page. If you don’t, then now is a good time to create one. This is one of the first places Google takes information from, which they then feed to their knowledge graph results. When you are creating your account, be sure that you select the appropriate category for your business.

The next step is to claim your Google plus local listing. You might not realize that Google has already listed your business on Google maps and there are other products. You can verify ownership so you can gain control over that listing. Once you have a verified the listing, you should try to accumulate as many positive reviews from your customers. The same applies to other third party review sites such as TripAdvisor and Yelp. These reviews also show up in the knowledge graph, which entices potential customers to check out your business.

You should also take the time to set up a Google Freebase listing. This is another source used by Google to feed information to their knowledge graph. Take note of that it is open source, which means that anyone can add information to Freebase.

The last step is to use structured data. This enables the search engine crawlers to have a better understanding of your website. It entails using semantic markup formats on different parts of your content including images, videos, authorship, and other relevant information.

A lot of businesses still fail to leverage the power of the knowledge graph. This means that it can give you the edge to outrank the competition, making your business stand out in the search results. Be sure to follow all the steps above to give you the highest chances of appearing on Google’s knowledge graph and getting more clicks from targeted customers.

Why You Should Always Avoid Affordable SEO Services

BY: Chris Scott / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: Uncategorised

The Different Reasons Why You Should Avoid Affordable SEO Services

While the majority of companies opt for search engine optimization services to improve their level of online visibility, finding the ideal SEO business can be complicated. It can be difficult to find the perfect digital marketing company that offers a high quality service, without costing an arm and a leg. Of course, there are those agencies that provide skills without being too costly and they draw attention; however, these companies are not always the most beneficial. Contrary to popular belief, a company offering affordable rates can be detrimental to one’s overall operation. This article will provide information on the different reasons why you should avoid affordable SEO services like the plague.

Plague Warning

• Not Much Can Be Done Without Funding

The idea of an ‘affordable’ rate is a subjective one and will depend on the amount the business is generating in annual revenue. If, for example, the company’s monthly figure is above six figures then a four-figure rate per month would be acceptable. If, however, the revenue is much lower than six figures a $1,000 or more fee would seem unreasonable. Of course, there is one argument that can be agreed upon regardless of the company’s income – high quality SEO is not cheap and not much can be done without funding.

SEO performed on a budget can only allow for a particular number of actions that are capital-dependent and time-dependent. The time-dependent SEO tends to involve basic optimization such as keyword research, page-level optimization and technical optimization. However, technical optimization does require website developers or designers and these require a set fee.

While this may seem pointless, it is better to have basic SEO than no SEO at all as it does drive more organic growth to the website. Unfortunately, the most effective drivers of growth are capital-dependent and need funding to create quality content with researched backlinks. Using ‘affordable’ services will require the use of cheap content creation resulting in poor traffic growth and negative reputation.

• Poor Long-Term Investment

Cost is a sensitive topic and all people are searching for cost-effective services, but there are some areas in life where you will need to pay for a quality service and SEO is one of these areas. It is important to note that cost for SEO is not an immediate situation and there are different aspects involved in the price tag.

Firstly, affordable services will often result in a penalty; therefore, low-quality tactics may work in the short-term but the site can be penalized in the long-term. This means you will need to hire another agency to have the penalty removed and increase the expense. This is only the visible cost. It is important to consider the loss of time and opportunity that accompanies penalized sites – and all business people understand the value of time and money in the industry.

• A Lack Of Assets

Backlinks and quality website content are considered assets for the business. This is due to the fact that they continue to bring the company value in the long-term. Unfortunately, a cheap SEO service cannot provide this quality content or backlinks because of a lack of capital (as is mentioned above). This means there are no assets and no long-term development.

• ‘Cookie Cutter’ Strategies

The more affordable SEO companies do not use customized approaches, but rather opt for cookie cutter strategies that rarely work and are always low quality. This is because the company is unable to scale if they need to perform any creative work and cannot be responsive due to lack of funding. By choosing a slightly more costly alternative, it is possible to use a customized SEO service offering more specific web design approaches.

• Lack Of Experience

While the costly SEO agencies are not cheap, they employ legitimate specialists in SEO and will be able to provide high quality work approaches. The cheap labor offered by affordable services is typically inexperienced and is not the best for larger SEO projects.

Simple Tips On How To Build And Run A Profitable SEO Marketing Company

BY: Chris Scott / 0 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: Blog

If you are thinking about starting up your own Search Engine Optimisation Company, here are some tips to help you succeed.

Before you decide which path to take, think about what interests you the most. Before opening your search engine marketing agency, it’s key to write a thorough search engine marketing plan.

Planning

If you really want to be successful, you need to constantly be planning and trying new things. You need to keep up your levels of commitment and focus to effectively ensure success. By making sure your agency is always growing and changing as search engines evolve, you can keep it moving forward.

Idea sharing and discussion with your employees can clear up your thoughts when its time to determine strategies . There’s also the tried and tested method of listing all of the pros and cons associated with each of the options you’re considering. The creation of such a list can bring an awareness of the best options available to your SEO agency. There are marketing company development pros available online for a consultation if you think you may need help setting up a business plan.

Employing Staff

Be cautious when you employ someone new to start working at your digital marketing agency. In addition to making sure that potential new workers understand what the job involves and have the right skill sets, check to see if they have the right qualifications.

A company we here at Brand That Name, have previously worked on projects with, Supernova SEO, always take full responsibility when hiring a new company employee to effectively ensure that they have received complete training so they’ll have no issues in completing the assigned tasks. The company has reaped the rewards of this with well-trained workers. Well trained employees make the happiest workers and in turn, they are highly committed to making their agency successful.

Your Website

There should be a section on your website where customers can leave feedback concerning the products and services that you offer. Your reputation will probably be served well by collecting good reviews (especially Google reviews) since your main objective should be to give your customers exceptional service and support. Promotions and perks that can only be had by those customers who give reviews can be a viable tactic to encourage them to give their opinion.

Your Clients

Devoted customers are at the heart of any profitable search engine marketing agency. A good SEO agency that has been handed down throughout the generations will usually have very happy staff who will remain loyal to the Corporation for a very long time. Protecting their online reputation and improving it’s what successful businesses take great care to do when the opportunity allows.

What Does Search Engine Optimisation Entail?

BY: Chris Scott / 3 COMMENTS / CATEGORIES: Local SEO

Search Engine Optimisation for local businesses is an important marketing tool. There are many things that go into optimising a website to make it rank better in the search engines – some factors are technical, and require you to focus on on-site elements such as mobile friendliness, avoiding excessive redirects, and improving on-page factors. Some ranking factors, on the other hand, are off-site – primarily the number of incoming links and their quality.

To rank well, both on-site and off-site factors need to be up to scratch. If your website performs poorly, if it has excessive redirects, or if the links on your menus are so close together that mobile users can’t accurately click on them, then Google will pick up on this and you will get an automatic penalty.

Google SEO

If your website has lots of duplicate content, then it will be penalised for that. If it has no or very few incoming links, then it won’t rank well because the search engines will assume that it’s not a high quality page.

The same goes for if most of the incoming links are low quality. If only spammers link to your website, if all of your links point to the same page and have the same anchor text, or if most of your links come from signatures or from blog comments, then that’s a likely sign that your site is very low quality.

All of these things can be fixed. The best starting point is to install a good theme for your site. If your website is based on something like Magento or WordPress then there are plenty of free themes out there that will improve your site’s search engine friendliness.

Performing a full SEO audit of your website should reveal if there are other issues, such as duplicate content or thin content, that could be creating problems with your rankings. These on-site issues are easy to fix, since as you, the website owner, can change them. Off-site issues are harder to manage.

Spammy, low quality links could get you an algorithmic penalty, or a manual spam action penalty. Manual penalties tend to be given out only for the most serious of violations – where Google believes that there has been a concerted effort made to acquire fake, low quality links to game the ranking system. Algorithmic penalties can be fixed by simply cleaning up the low quality links, or disavowing them in Google Webmaster Tools, if the owners of the sites producing the low quality links are uncooperative about removing them.

Building good quality links – from high page rank and high domain authority websites, will greatly improve your rankings in the search engines. Some of these links may be acquired through article marketing or through press releases and blog exchanges. Some, may be built organically, as bloggers choose to link to your website. Collectively, the links will improve the visibility of your site to the search engines, and to end users too, increasing your traffic overall.
